The French Poodle and the Turquoise Lounge Suite
I love animals. it weren’t for them, young kids eating vegemite toast and older kids vomiting bourbon and coke, I’d struggle to stay in business. Such is the dedication with which animals take to messing up their homes that a lot of the domestic work we do is as a result of little animal accidents.
The dog has done a wee on the carpet (or the rug, the upholstery or the mattress), the cat has brought in a rat or left a fur ball. There’s muddy footprints and stomach upsets, musty odours and oils from their coats on furniture and walls.
Fair to say, I love those little guys.
Some jobs you get to and the first thing that greets you is a dog’s bark. Sometimes excited, sometimes welcoming, sometimes aggressive. It reminds us to ask if there are any dog related issues. There usually are.
We arrived at a job last week to be greeted by the bounding excited barks of a chocolate brown poodle, we’ll call her Fifi as it fits with the whole French poodle thing and I never thought to check if it was a boy or a girl or what it’s name was.
Fifi had been banished to the outside patio of the home whilst we were there. She marched indignantly back and forth whilst we completed our tasks. She was introduced (as kids and animals often are) as “The Culprit” and “The Reason we were there.” God bless you Fifi and all your fury friends.
You see, as well as owning a lovely dog, our customer also owned a very lovely turquoise lounge suite, two arm chairs and a sofa, which Fifi liked to spread herself around as she watched TV, listened to music and dreamt about chasing cats along the Champs-Elysees. As a result, said lounge suite had little bits of Fifi all over it, dribble here, mud there, some coat oil, chewed up bits of stuff and some fur as well.
The poor old lounge suite looked a bit the worse for wear. Fifi didn’t mind so much, but her owner was less enamoured with the look of it. Naturally faced with such a situation, you’d call Chem-Dry Far North Coast your upholstery cleaning specialists on the Northern Rivers and Far North Coast.
We knew with nearly 20 years experience that some upholstered fabrics will clean a lot better than others. We knew this particular one with the stains described would clean up a treat.
As with all upholstery jobs, we first inspected the furniture and the fabric, we identified any potential issues and any pre existing problems. We vacuumed the furniture thoroughly, applied a degreasing pre spray which we let dwell, whilst we praised Fifi through closed doors for he magnificent efforts.
We scrubbed the furniture by hand to work the pre spray and the cleaning solution into the fabric, we treated heavily stained areas specifically.
We then extracted and rinsed the furniture, leaving it clean and fresh and looking brand new again. A towel down to finish it off and we were all done.
Fifi seemed non plussed as she was still outside. Our customer though was delighted with the result, vowing to get sheets to put over the furniture for the future.
We were pleased that there was no talk of keeping the dog off the furniture. As we always say to people; you have to live in your house, you have to walk on your floors and you have to sit in your chairs. If they get a bit grubby or just for recommended maintenance you can always call Chem-Dry Far North Coast.
We would say that though.
