There will be few things, the home owner will take more pride in than brand new carpet. We had a customer recently that had just that feeling. Unfortunately for them, the feeling lasted only a matter of hours before potential disaster struck. As the first meal was being devoured on the table above the 6 hour old carpet, a jar of chilli sauce with a mind of its own was about to make life a little more interesting and incredibly stressful.
You can only imagine what an upturned jar of chilli sauce looks like after it has fallen from the table and landed on the new carpet. Add to this an attempt to stop the jar with a foot, which turned into an exercise in kicking the jar and we had chilli sauce over about a square metre.
For some people, google would be the first port of call and this is often where the problems exacerbate. You see, home remedies, generally don’t work. Bi-carb is good for unclogging your bowels, but can bleach carpets. Salt is nice on boiled potatoes, it might even make your carpet taste better, but that’s about all. Vinegar, great on chips, stains carpets. Pouring white wine on red wine, kind of make rose, will do nothing for stain removal. We spend a lot of time attempting to fix home spotting techniques, sometime we remove the stain, only to find that there is a bleach mark on the carpet from something the customer has used in good faith.
Back to our chilli sauce, you can imagine the issues; oil, food colouring, yellow and red spices and splatter marks over a big area. You’d like to think that perhaps the carpet was a nice red patterned sort of number. Of course it was as close to white as carpet can be.
Our customer, a regular, knew that the only home spotter to be used is soda water. They knew to dab as much up as possible, they knew to dab, not rub. They knew to try and keep the area moist and most importantly they knew to call Chem-Dry Far North Coast.
The Chem in Chem-Dry stands for chemistry, because we take a scientific approach to ensuring that your floors and furnishings are looking their very best. Understanding the science is key to successful stain treatment. We treated each mark individually and pleasingly we achieved a perfect result. The chilli stained carpet returned to the brand new carpet.
