Facts about Urine

Urine deposited on carpet, upholstery or on a mattress does not stay there. It sinks, spreads and penetrates fibres and fillings. The actual liquid evaporates when the urine dries but the urine crystals remain intact and become concentrated and pungent. A deodoriser might temporarily mask the smell but the urine odour returns as soon as the area gets wet again.

It is not possible to remove urine or urine crystals with a dry cleaning method. The secret with P.U.R.T.® is that it breaks down the urine crystals until they liquefy.

After that it is possible to extract all traces of the urine and do a proper clean. Please note that the outline of the urine stain is likely to remain visible unless Chem-Dry attends within 24-48 hours of the accident.

Almost all content coming from the inside of a human or an animal body is highly acidic. That's why these fluids (such as urine, faeces, vomit, semen, pus or blood) are likely to leave a contour around its stain unless treated quickly. The best things you can do when an accident like this occur is:

1. Remove the bits
2. DO NOT ADD ANYTHING to the spill other than soda water or tap water
3. Keep damp until we arrive (leave a wet towel on top of it).
